To mark the passing of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II - Captain Cook Cruises paid homage with a guard of honour of four vessels at Farm Cove. The location was in remembrance of the 3 February 1954, when the young Queen sailed into Sydney Harbour and stopped the nation - creating history as the first reigning monarch to set foot on Australian soil.
The vessels made a formation, with the backdrop of the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge, before a three horn blast echoed along the Harbour Foreshore, to signify the start of one minute silence. The Captain Cook fleet displayed flags at half-mast with black cravats in maritime tradition.
Her arrival at Farm Cove in 1954, attracted an estimated 1 million onlookers on the day and a remarkable 75% of the Australian population came out to welcome Her Majesty during her entire Australian tour.
Today's special homage was a moving experience to all those who gathered around the Harbour and onboard the vessels, in gratitude to the Queen's 70-year reign.
