Creating Inclusive Spaces: How Kelsian’s Support Helped the Sensory Bus Thrive Across South Australia
Tuesday 03 March 2026
At Kelsian, we are proud to be part of initiatives that create safer, more inclusive experiences for the communities we serve. One of the most rewarding collaborations recently has been our sponsorship of the Sensory Bus in South Australia - an innovative, mobile sensory‑friendly space designed to support neurodivergent community members at major events across the state.
Recently, the Director of the Office for Autism, Sarah Kemp, shared her heartfelt thanks with our team, acknowledging Kelsian’s ongoing commitment to inclusion and our sponsorship of the full bus artwork wrap. This contribution has helped transform the vehicle into a warm, welcoming and engaging environment that offers comfort, calm, and connection for people who may otherwise feel overwhelmed.
Since its official launch in October 2025, the Sensory Bus has become a beloved feature at community festivals and events. With over 4,500 users, the bus has provided a quiet and regulated space for individuals of all ages - allowing them to rest, reset, and rejoin the fun when they’re ready.
Families, carers and community members have shared beautiful feedback about the impact the space has had:
“This is so good to have at major events for those who are overstimulated and need to get away. Keep up the good work, you are making a difference!” ~ Parent at the OzAsia Festival
“My 8-year-old son loved the quiet space. He said it was ‘better than the Pageant’!” ~ Parent at the National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant
At the Multicultural Festival, two adult brothers - one sensory seeking, one sensory avoidant - were both able to enjoy the Sensory Bus. Their family shared how valuable it was to have a space that met the needs of both, despite their very different sensory profiles.
A visitor who used the Sensory Bus at the Christmas Pageant returned again at the BP Grand Final, sharing that the bus made her “feel safe” and that she enjoyed interacting with the staff.
At the Santos Tour Down Under family day, one community member was inspired to create and gift a heartfelt drawing to the Sensory Bus team, an unexpected gesture that deeply moved everyone involved.

These stories are a powerful reminder of what accessible, inclusive design can achieve—and how small moments of care can have a lasting impact.
Torrens Transit Drivers: The Heart Behind the Wheel
The Director also extended special recognition to the Torrens Transit drivers who support Sensory Bus activations across Adelaide. Their professionalism, empathy, and consistent care have been praised not only by organisers but by families who rely on these services. They are often the first point of contact for visitors, and their contribution to creating a calm and welcoming atmosphere cannot be overstated.
Proud Partners in Inclusion
The Sensory Bus continues to grow in reach and impact, and Kelsian is proud to stand alongside the Office for Autism in making South Australian events more accessible for everyone. We extend our thanks to the Sensory Bus team, our drivers, and the many families and community members who have embraced this initiative with enthusiasm and heart.
