Friday 16 February 2024
Go West Tours first electric coach notched up an impressive milestone on the first anniversary of its operations this month.
The zero-emissions coach services South32’s Worsley Alumina operations near Collie, and since it started operating on February 13, 2023, has travelled 75,000km and reduced carbon dioxide emissions by 65 tonnes.
Go West General Manager Brad Bunce said it was fantastic to reach such an important sustainability milestone.
“Electric coaches are the way of the future to help us reduce our carbon footprint and we are looking forward to building on this early success as we further develop our electric vehicle fleet,” Mr Bunce said.
“We are market leaders in transport innovation and believe we have a key role to play in helping our clients achieve their targets to reduce emissions.
“Our results and performance continue to prove the value of investment in innovation and we will continue to scour the globe to bring the industry’s best practice into our Australian operations for an energy-friendly future.”
WA Climate Action Minister Reece Whitby and WA Regional Development Minister Don Punch officially launched the coach on November 2, 2023, celebrating the first private electric coach in the state.
