New CEO strengthens growth potential for Transit Systems

Transit Systems, Australia’s leading public transport operator, and part of ASX200 Kelsian Group, will welcome industry expert Michael McGee as the new Chief Executive Officer from 12 December 2022.

Mr McGee will take over from outgoing Chief Operating Officer, Greg Balkin, with the role repositioned into Chief Executive Officer to reflect the excelled growth and new potential in Australian transport.

Kelsian Group CEO Clint Feuerherdt stated Mr McGee will be responsible for the strategic direction and all operations of the Transit Systems businesses, including Go West, Horizons West and RiverCity Ferries.

“Transit Systems is geared for growth, with an incredible team, contracted revenue and exciting possibilities that leverage Kelsian Group’s portfolio capabilities,” he said.

Michael is a highly experienced executive, having held senior positions in the public transport, financial services, technology, and logistics sectors.

“We are pleased to welcome Michael as Transit Systems continues to build upon its leading position in Australia, delivering operational excellence across public buses, education transport and the resource sector,” said Mr Feuerherdt.

Michael has extensive and cutting-edge knowledge in the transportation sector having worked recently as the Chief Executive Officer for netBI, a data software platform and analytics solution for the transport sector.

“Michael is well placed to develop efficiencies and identify new business and product opportunities, with his skill set and experience being a further catalyst for growth and innovation.

“Transit Systems continues to showcase global best-practice, delivering sustainable, safe and reliable transport solutions across Australia – continually setting new benchmarks for the industry and helping government partners meet their zero emission goals,” he said.

Based in Brisbane (Queensland, Australia), Michael said he is passionate about leading and developing people, and encouraging best-practice solutions to drive sustainability, innovation and growth.

Michael will oversee Australia’s largest electric bus fleet in his role as CEO of Transit Systems, along with the country’s first two hydrogen buses that are soon to be deployed into service.
